I’ve decided it’s time to get in shape. I’m determined to do it, and for the past two weeks I’ve been working out/doing cardio for about a half hour three times a week. I’ve heard it takes about a month to start seeing results, but how can I maximize the amount of fat I’m burning — specifically, belly fat?
Also, since I’m new to fitness, any tips on eating healthier/exercising better are more than welcomed!

I can’t answer the belly fat one as that is also my problem, even though I had weightloss surgery, and I have lost a lot, but the belly is my problem too. But I am answering for the tips on eating.
About eating: It is really really really hard to change eating habits. The truth is what you put in your mouth isn’t nearly as important as how much you put in. If you can eat a brownie, and just one, it isn’t a huge thing, but most people, including myself pre-surgery, couldn’t do that. And you know, salad isn’t that healthy either, because there is so much stuff on it that is unhealthy.
So there is a better way to focus on eating I think. First, you have to be serious and convince yourself that you eat for survival. Any other reason for eating is just pleasure, and you know, pleasure is what gets us in trouble, especially with eating. Don’t decide on eating something because of taste, but because of what is can do for your body.
Another thing, you can’t go counting calories and think that is that, or stop eating carbs. Those are called diets, but the problem is that diets dont work. You have to make a life long choice. And yeah, really really really freaking hard, but if you can do it, and not everyone can, it has more rewards than you can imagine.
What I suggest you focus on eating isn’t the low calorie cupcakes or whatever, focus on protein. That is what you need for muscle, and if you eat a lot of meat, especially cow and fish, then you can get a lot of B12, which is great for helping your blood. Muscle and blood are important when it comes to weightloss, and more importatly, being healthy. And really, don’t think of it as eating less carbs, but focus on getting your protein. I think tofu, cheese, meat, nuts, and even bread are good for protein, but realistically, eggs are not that good as the cost of the 6g of protein is way too much for the amount of bad clostoral. Tofu is by far the best food you can eat for your body, and remember, it isn’t a meat substitute, but a veggie, so go ahead and mix it with your meats!!!
I think that is about the best I can give. Focus on protein!!! Can’t burn fat without something to burn it with!
