If you’re trying to lose tummy fat, one area that will assist you to speed the process along is applying some small changes in your daily routine that will increase your metabolic process. By doing this will amplify the results of your diet and exercise routines and help achieve your weight loss goals. The following simple ideas will aid you to make a difference and give you that metabolic lift:
Do not eat within three hours of your usual bedtime
It is best to allow your body to digest before going to sleep; otherwise, your body will store the excess calories as belly fat since your system has no need for the extra energy. Eating late at night (after 8pm) sabotages your metabolism, and if you implement just one of these suggestions here, this is it.
Water, clean pure and filtered
Keeping yourself well hydrated is vital to keeping an elevated metabolism. Lack of adequate fluids in the body, will cause dehydrated and your metabolism will slow, making it more difficult for you to lose tummy fat. One way to increase and boost your metabolic rate is to drink warm water with a squeeze of lemon; I must say that it helps get the gastric juices going.
Some form of physical exertion
Getting out and going for a 30 minute walk, riding a bike or interval training a few times each week or a combination of all to get your body moving. Some form of regular exercise or physical exertion can make a difference to your overall health. Try to incorporate weight training into your work out regimen, as this form of exercise help keep muscle tone and can burn excess stomach fat and lift your metabolic rate following the workout.
Tea anyone
Green tea or white tea has all shown to aid with your metabolism. Avoid good old coffee, caffeine charged drinks and diet pills that contain a lot of caffeine. Caffeine does stimulate and give you a buzz, but the effects are sort term and may do more harm then good. Drinking too much caffeine actually can lead to mild dehydration, which may depresses metabolic process.
Add a touch of hot stuff to your food
Chillies and other spices have been known to pep up metabolism; a compound in chillies called capsaicin has a thermogenic effect, which causes your body to burn extra calories after you eat them.
Eat berries
Blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries and cranberries are all packed with antioxidants and natural sweetness when eaten in small mounts. Some studies have suggested that they have a tendency to raise metabolism and they also contain a substances that can trigger receptors in the brain to signal that you are full.
Resveratrol
A potent antioxidant which can be found in red wine and can be bought as supplement, that has been publicized to help crank up metabolism too. It has a lowering effect on blood sugar levels and bolsters the immune system.
Any of these ways will help you break down the excess bulge and improve your health. It can be both physically and emotionally tough to make these simple changes, when you must lose tummy fat. The best thing is to make a small change each day, and be consistent in what you do so it becomes second nature.
Just found the knob on my fat-burning metabolism
I just came across an interesting book on weight loss that seems to defy the conventional wisdom on this subject:
It is called “Hot Metabolism“, and it is all about how our metabolism (the food burning mechanism within us) isn’t at all the hands off system that we tend to think it is.
If you are like me, you probably thought that we live with the cards we are dealt, and if you happen to have a metabolism that burns slowly throughout life, and tends to pile up fat on your body, well, that’s just your lot. We live with the fat unless we are prepared cut calories and starve ourselves – or hit the gym for 4 hours a day.
But that kind of thinking is all wrong, according to Carolyn Hansen, who is a certified fitness trainer, nutritionist, and one-time national bodybuilder champion. She says that once you learn how your metabolism really works, and that it can be built up so as to burn more fuel over the course of the day, you can actually take control of the rate at which you store or lose body fat. And anyone can do this.
If you want to find out how this is done, check out her book Hot Metabolism, which you can find here:
I don’t know that it’s really like having a knob on your body that you can use to dial your metabolism higher, but it sounds like the next best thing – especially if you have always had trouble getting rid of those extra few pounds.
